Purpose of the Scholarship

The Nancy Green Leadership Scholarship is available to a student from Montgomery County High School, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, who will pursue a culinary or communications/media degree within their primary course of study.

Award Amount

This is a $4000.00 scholarship and is renewable for an additional year if student maintains a 3.0 GPA at the end of year one. An additional $500.00 will be allocated for books. Total amount of scholarship year one, $4,500.00. Amount potential if 3.0 GPA is maintained beginning of year two, $4,500.00, up to $9000.00 total for two years.

Criteria for Eligibility

1.  Must be a student at Montgomery County High School and pursuing a culinary or communications/media degree upon graduation.

2.  Students must apply for FAFSA to receive maximum amount of scholarship annually. This is to ensure that total amount of scholarship is allocated correctly.

3.  Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Application and Review Process

1. Prepare a typed essay response to the following questions (1000 word limit): Explain why you are deserving of this scholarship and how receiving this scholarship will help you achieve your goals. From a financial standpoint, what impact would this scholarship have on your education? What do you know about Nancy Green, and based on that knowledge, how will you represent her name in Montgomery County as a recipient of this scholarship. How have you made a positive impact on your community through school participation, church activities and/or community activities/organizations?


2. Submit a letter of acceptance for the student's college/university of choice along with a class schedule for the semester aid is requested. If you have not registered for classes yet please note. 


3. All submitted applications will be reviewed for match with the intended purpose of the scholarship. Submit the completed application and typed essay response by May 15, 2024.
